Findings: Generating A Culture of Invention by: By Max Elden
What we found at Magma was a very different model of change based on local invention, rather than consultant intervention, and a context or culture that supported people breaking out of existing ways of doing things to create new and better ways. We first describe this "culture of invention" and then explore what people experienced in getting into invention-their generative events. This gives us a basis for summarizing the process of invention in the form of a model or practice theory. We found that the way the change process is organized and managed at Magma is not linear and rational as predicated in typical organization development theories.
